BOUTIER WINERY’S DIVA’LICIOUS, GEORGIA PEACH WINE WINS JUDGES AWARD FOR BEST BEVERAGE AT A TASTE OF ATHENS, FEBRUARY 20, 2010

For over 25 years A Taste of Athens has offered an opportunity to sample food and drink from local eateries and beverage providers. Proceeds from the event benefit the Community Connection of North East Georgia, a one stop information and referral service for individuals, families, and professionals in the surrounding 14 county area.

This year’s event, held on Sunday, February 20, at the Athens Classic Center, brought together several local eateries and over 15 beverage providers. Beverages included beer, coffee, soft drinks, juices, and wine. As guests mingled and tasted, celebrity judges selected the Food and Beverage for the Best in show awards.

Boutier Winery‘s Diva’Licious, Georgia Peach Wine, described as a perfect balance of fruit flavor and acidity, walked away with the Best Beverage Award.

Victor and Mary Boutier, owners of Boutier Winery and Vineyards at 4506 Hudson River Church Road in Danielsville, are excited to win the local award. They are hands on owners; from tending the vineyard to marketing and selling, Mary and Victor are involved in every aspect of the wine business. After winning the Taste of Athens award, Victor said, “It’s really amazing. Although we offer over 20 wine varietals and many are award winners, our Diva’Licious, Georgia Peach wine is our best seller and it continues to bring us recognition. This wine has won multiple awards at National and International Wine Competitions, including prestigious Concordance Gold awards, where all judges give the wine maximum points in all categories. We are really proud to produce a product that celebrates the state of Georgia and maintains the integrity of a truly great wine.”
