ACWORTH, GEORGIA (APRIL 13, 2006)

Top honors from two recent international wine competitions confirmed what Mary and Victor Boutier already knew: some of the world’s best wine is made in Acworth, Georgia.

For the second consecutive year, Boutier Winery’s Peach Chardonnay earned a concordance gold medal at the Indy International Wine Competition in July, the first time in the Indy’s 16-year history that a Georgia winemaker won back-to-back gold medals. Of the more than 3,200 wines from 17 countries in this year’s event, Boutier’s Peach Chardonnay was one of only 116 to earn the coveted concordance gold, awarded only when all five judges vote a wine worthy of a gold medal. This Boutier classic also won best in class! The Acworth winery earned a silver medal for its Elegance Vin Rouge, a unique blend of syrah, cabernet sauvignon and merlot, and a bronze medal for its What a Great Pear, a pear wine aged in coffee beans.

“Earning the recognition of national and international wine experts is truly an honor,” said winemaker Victor Boutier.

The Indy competition capped off an award-winning season for the local winery. Earlier in the year, the delicately sweet Peach Chardonnay nabbed a gold medal from among 3,000 national and international entries at the 2007 Dallas Morning News Wine Competition, the second largest wine competition in the United States. This was only the second time in the competition’s 23-year history that a Georgia wine won a gold medal, the first one awarded 15 years ago. Boutier’s Skinny Bitch, a blueberry wine, received a bronze medal.

Boutier’s popular Peach Chardonnay was also a palate pleaser at the first National Women’s Wine Competition in Los Angeles, earning a silver medal. The panel of all-women judges awarded a bronze medal to Cranky Bastard, Boutier’s flavorful blackberry wine. With these awards comes the right to label these medal winners as Certified Women Love It™ wines.

Boutier Winery was established in 2000 by Mary and Victor Boutier. Their wines are crafted from the highest quality grapes, carefully selected from the finest vineyards, including the recently acquired Boutier Vineyards in Danielsville, Georgia, where the winemaking couple are building a new winery. The facility is slated to open in January 2008. The Acworth location will remain open as a tasting room and retail shop. In addition to producing award-winning wines, Boutier offers custom labels to personalize wine bottles for any occasion.
